  • Runes – 26 feats, 26 epic boons, and 72 Spells (12 spells for each of the 6 caster classes, covering at least one spell for each level).
  • A dedicated armory to catalog Norse-specific weapons and Viking longship statistics.
Optional rules, such as:
  • Brutal death saves
  • Life after death
  • The inclusion of warbands as hirelings
  • Conducting battles using warbands
  • Inspirations from the setting to fuel your creativity
  • 5e stats for dozens of Gods, Giants, and Creatures.
  • 200+ pages of adventure locations, events, hooks, and campaign story beats.
  • Ideas for using 3rd party adventures and game systems.
  • Yggdrasil is a landmass, broken into nine connected realms, structured in the shape of a giant ash tree. Miðgarðr, the heart of this world and the realm situated between two forested realms, inhabited by fey or vættir. These elves, gnomes and dwarves called “Alfr”. Miðgarð plays a crucial role in safeguarding the Æsir gods of Ásgarð from the frost giants dwelling in the northernmost realm. After vanquishing the Vanir they now persistently battle the Giants, awaiting the prophesied Fimbulvetr, the winter heralding Ragnarök.
  • Roots of Yggdrasil stretch far southward, forming the realms of Hel and the fire giants. These realms, while foreboding, are essential to the world’s equilibrium. Wells to the underworld, are portals that stitches the realms together, overseen by the Norns or Fates. Yggdrasil, sustained by the three wells linking the realms, is home to diverse creatures like Veðrfölnir, the giant eagle perched to the north, and Níðhöggr, the dragon gnawing at the roots far south. The messenger squirrel Ratatoskr scurries through underworld, between them, exchanging news and information.
  • Magic or “Seiðr” was once a secret of the Vanir, until Odin learned it and disseminated it among the dwarves. Later, it was shared by Freyr to the elves and by Freya to the Northmen. This potent force can be captured in runes or by invoking help of a patron god or giant.
  • Death is a transition. Receiving a proper burial will help to avoid becoming Vörðr, a spirit guardian who haunts the land until finding peace. Placing the dead on a boat or burying them underground grants passage to Helheim, where Hel decides their fate. Odin, Freya, or Hel determine the dead’s final destination: Valhalla, Fólkvangr, or Helheim.
  • Apples of immortality prevent aging in those who partake, but all races, including gods and giants, are susceptible to death. Those who demonstrate greatness can ascend in power and stature and are only then regarded as gods or giants.
  • Gods and Giant Size. Jötunn, Æsir and Vanir are tribal bloodlines. Like Jötunn, Gods are giants. Similarly, players can choose to start as Small or Medium, and may awaken their dormant essence as they gain experience, growing one size category at level 10 and again at level 20.
  • Raiding warbands drawn from neighboring villages sunder Miðgarð. These Viking factions, known for their exceptional skills at sea and prowess in battle, consist of fearsome warriors such as berserkers and shield maidens. They have gained renown for their relentless raids and pillaging expeditions.
  • Mythical creatures also inhabit the world—giants, dragons, trolls, undead, elves, and dwarves, each asserting their territorial rights and nursing age-old grudges. Creatures like the enchanting nixies and the alluring huldra use their charms to ensnare unsuspecting victims. Supernatural threats in the form of wolves, ravens, giant eagles, and boars, each also represent divine aspects and affiliations, and often become entangled in broader conflicts.
  • The blood-brothers Amidst chaos, Odin and Loki, blood-brothers, emerge as harbingers of Ragnarök. Loki, the shapeshifter and trickster, fuels conflicts, scheming, propelling Yggdrasil towards Ragnarök, the foretold end. Odin, often disguised as a one-eyed elderly man in grey, whispers and encourages conflict among men and recruits fallen warriors for Valhalla’s army, the Einherjar.
