Cossack Skirmish Set

The Cossack army excels in positional combat. With the ability to field Wagon Train and excellent infantry, it is very good at defense. What’s more, Cossack infantry gets extra bonuses fighting in the Area terrain. Their weak point is cavalry as mounted Cossacks are in fact dragoons not cavalry. However, thanks to the very long range of rifled barrels, the Cossacks are able to force the enemy to approach.

Cossacks were known throughout Europe as efficient infantry – tough, valiant and determined. Elite of the Cossack army, Registered Moloitsy with many years ofservice were the best equipped of all Cossack forces. They were usually armed witha saber and one or more firearms. The best marksmen stood in the front ranks and moloitsy from the back passed loaded weapons to them. In dense terrain moloitsy often fought in an open order as skirmishers where they were able to use their very high individual combat skills.

Cossacks who were not part of the register, for any number of reasons, Moloitsy, had also a fairly high combat value. They used awide range of arms, including sabers, pistols, spears, muskets and arquebuses. Cossacks were also very effective in hand-to-hand combat.

Cossack cavalry, the Mounted Cossacks played rather supportive. They carried out typical cavalry tasks, suchas reconnaissance, screening or pursuit but it was not line battle cavalry. During the course of an engagement, Cossack cavalry usually fought dismounted.

All units in this set have bases, movement trays and - when required - spears/pikes and banners. Miniatures are made of metal, horses are made of plastic. All miniatures require gluing and are unpainted. Contents may vary from picture shown.
