Description

Author Ralph Dymond's father was a Voyager I crew member, so young Ralph was raised in a Navy Destroyer oriented family. His deep interest in his father's ship, and a reunion with ex-Voyager sailors, led to five years of research and this detailed history of Voyager I.

Voyager was launched in 1918 in Scotland and saw active service with the Royal Navy during the last year of WWI. She was transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 1933 together with four other R.N. destroyers. Called the "Scrap Iron Flotilla" by the Germans, Voyager and her sister ships (Vampire, Vendetta, Waterhen and Stuart) were to be a valuable and effective fighting force in the Mediterranean.
