Description

The centerpiece of the first "Planet of the Apes" sequel, "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" (1970), the Alpha-Omega Doomsday Missile (or Doomsday Bomb) was an object of religious worship by the human mutants living in the underground remains of New York City while the apes ruled the surface world. The design was based on contemporary ICBMs (although actually much smaller -- for filming purposes), enhanced by fins, one of which bore the fateful "Alpha-Omega" symbol.

Later in the film, the missile is shown to have a large hook on its upper body -- its only practical function being that of a surface where the invading apes could attach their ropes to bring the missile crashing to the ground.

Released by Fantastic Plastic Models in spring 2025, this 1/24 scale model of the Alpha-Omega Doomsday Missile was designed in CAD by John Fleming and created wholly using 3D printing. The kit contains the curious upper-stage "hook" seen later in the film, as well as a cathedral-steps display stand.

?This model was built from an original issue.
