Description

This is a Print on Demand copy and is not an original copy

Turn to this card deck whenever a PC is reduced to zero hit points. Instead of rolling a d4 and checking the table in the core rules, draw a single card from this deck whenever a PC reaches zero HP.
Each card includes one to four skulls. These correspond with the one, two, three, and four faces of a d4 so that you can easily meld these cards with the official rules. If you check each of the cards, you’ll note that the result is similar to the core rules for Broken bodies. These cards provide more flavor and detail, all of which may be ignored or modified as the GM wishes.
The results on each card are divided into “Bash” and “Stab.” Use the result that best aligns with the attack that reduced the PC to zero HP.
Many of the cards include results that are permanent, forever impacting the PC (if they survive the card drawn). As always, the GM should apply their judgment to any results and make changes as they feel are appropriate to the campaign.
This card deck may also be used when a PC is reduced to negative HP. Draw one card for each point the PC has fallen below zero and then apply all drawn cards to the character. Start with the worst result (four, three, two, one is the sequence from worst to less bad) and apply each one in order.
If the character survives this encounter with death, ignore the core rules and allow the PC to continue living. Of course, they are likely to be in a bad state after suffering the effects of multiple cards at once.
