Description

Deschimag AG Weser shipyard at Bremen specialized in construction of special duties submarines. After trials of the type IXD1, new longer-range vessels were developed specifically for service in Far Eastern waters. Type IXD2 ships could carry as much as 216 tons of raw materials from East Indies (with reduced number of torpedoes). These vessels were known as the "Monsoon-Boote" and were equipped with the latest "Schnorchel" device and with the Fa 330 Bachstelze rotor-glider. This rotary wing aircraft was tethered to the ships with a cable and a phone line and with the vessel cruising at high speed it could reach an altitude of 120 m, providing observation over 40 km. Combat use of this solution proved negligible, however.

Models & Model Kits are supplied unpainted and unassembled unless otherwise noted.
