T-35 Soviet Heavy Tank

The T-35 was the only production tank ever with five turrets mounted on its hull. Designed in 1932, it featured a main turret with a 76mm gun supported by four smaller turrets: two with 45mm guns and two with machine guns, and had a crew of 11 men. This was a very strong armament for tanks of the time, but it had relatively thin armor protection. The tank was very expensive to produce, so only about 60 T-35s were built.

Before the war, the enormous T-35 was used primarily as a parade vehicle and showcase for Soviet engineering skill. When the German army invaded in 1941, the decision was made to deploy them to frontline units. But, its slow land speed, enormous size (almost 10 meters long and weighing more than 50 tons), and mechanical problems haunted the design: about 90 percent of the T-35 casualties were due to mechanical transmission failure rather than enemy action.

This kit includes one plastic model Soviet tank from World War II. Includes unit flag and unit card for use with the Art of Tactic WWII game. Assembled model measures 9.8cm in length and includes 13 pieces. Miniatures are supplied unpainted and assembly may be required.
