Stalingrad - the former name of Volgograd (before rwolucja Tsaritsyn), a town on the Volga. The name was given to the city in 1925 in honor of Joseph Stalin. In the days since 17 August 1942 to 2 February 1943, around the town of fierce fighting took place that resulted in the complete destruction of the German 6th The army and the surrender of its remaining until 2 February 1943.

Battle of Stalingrad became the turning point of World War II, from which the initiative was seized by the Red Army. It is in those realities played out just Stalingrad 1942-1943
